Olympus Stylus 770

July 27th, 2007

Whether you’re a rip-roaring adventurer off to snap some shots from the summit of K2 before getting some awesome surfing video at G-Land in Java (liar), or just a regular old butterfingers who can’t be trusted hold onto a camera, Olympus has a new offering aimed to keep you from having to explore the fine print on your warranty.

The Olympus Stylus 770 is the Abrams Tank of digital cameras, a category of electronics not known for toughness. It’s built to withstand virtually any conditions which would turn a normal camera into an expensive paperweight.

It’s can survive a fall from 5 feet, in addition to various lesser bumps and knocks. It can be submerged in up to 33 feet of water while still taking pictures and video. It laughs in the face of sub-zero temperatures, and can even hold up against 220 pounds of pressure.

Yes, a pre-lipo Star Jones could sit directly on it, and it would still take pictures (though you’d probably want to wash it first).

Not only that, but with 7.1 megapixels, 27 shooting modes for different environments, and low-light no-flash enhancements, your pictures and video will come out good.
