Wired How-To’s
July 26th, 2007No longer content with merely keeping geeks like us informed about technology news, Wired Magazine has launched their own how-to wiki, chock full of guides for pulling off a truly epic variety of tasks.
Some of the guides are for things you’re probably never going to need, from the highly illegal, like how to use a slim jim (the kind carried by car thieves, not the kind carried by Macho Man Randy Savage), to the extremely unlikely, like how to dismantle an atomic bomb. There are even a few that are more than a little disturbing, like the in-depth guide on how to cyberstalk someone turn your Flickr crush into a real romance. But even when they’re not terribly useful, they’re still hilarious to read.
This isn’t to say there aren’t any useful goodies. There’s a whole section geared towards tools for the working man, with step-by-step guides to things like warding off unconsciousness during long meetings, getting fired gracefully (hint: flaming bags of dog doo are frowned upon), and keeping all those incriminating Google searches for “Carmen Electra” + “mayonnaise” + “dirigible” safe from your boss’s prying eyes.
And like a true Wiki, it’s open to additions and editing from the internet community at large, so if you’ve got a few tips to offer go ahead and sign up.
